  • I honestly didn’t think this would work for me from the moment I made the phone call. I knew I needed to change as I was out of control with my alcohol. The next 6 weeks just having Carlie checking in really helped, felt like someone was cheering for me. At this stage my thoughts were changing. I was still drinking, but I would have thoughts of having a coach help me. I waited right up until the last minute, and joined up for the six week coaching package. The first week was: yeah ok, I will listen, then read the follow up email on what we spoke about. This went on to until the start of week four, I remember I was reading the email on Monday. I told Carlie: I will try for 3 days AF this week, I wanted to say 4 but I didn’t want to fail. Monday night, I didn’t drink, that was 1st May 2023 I still haven’t had a drink as I am writing this the date is 19th May 2023. This is the longest time without a drink since I was 19 years old, I’m 47 now. I was so comfortable with Carlie, and towards the last few weeks couldn’t wait until our meeting to tell her how I smashed my goals.   • My drinking was starting to get out of control and started affecting my work and home life. I had tried many times to cut back and stop on my own, constantly letting myself and those around me down. I had met Carlie at a function a few weeks before I actually called her. I found Carlie so easy to work with including availability to start and working in with my crazy schedule was never a problem. I did my initial 6 weeks with Carlie and felt fantastic. I had over 100 days sober, but was still smoking and over Christmas I fell off the wagon and over the following 2 months quickly was falling back into old patterns.   • “I had done dry Januarys, 100 days sobers etc and never found it difficult but also, had gone back to similar drinking patterns - wine o clock with mum friends, having that fuzzy feeling a couple of times a week and of course the 'oh shit what did I say last night' moments.   • “Alcohol was such a large part of my everday life, everything i did had alcohol intertwined in some way. Kids parties, after work hangs, all work conferences , every family gathering every hangout with my friends, i would say that aside from pregnancies i had never since being 15 had a week without it. I truly believed that because i didnt drink every day and or get up and drink in the mornings i was fine and didnt have a problem. Carlie helped open my eyes to my relationship with alcohol and knowing her story inspired me to question that relationship.
